It has been so dreary the past week and a half down here in Southern Louisiana. I can’t wait for some sunshine so I can get out and finish re-photographing my ornaments!! I was able to get a couple up that I had on hand but there are always more. I am thrilled at how well they are coming out, the sun makes the seed beads glitter so well in a way that artificial light never can.
It’s going to be a busy week, with or without the photos. I am planning to spend today looking for inspiration and materials to spruce up packaging and I have 2 ornaments to finish and list. I also need (badly) to polish my item descriptions and tags.
Much to my surprise yesterday, my Facebook fan page has well over 800 likes — the Facebook ad I created did a wonderful job bringing my ornaments to attention but I have yet to get a sale from it :S I decided that once I hit 1,000 likes I will have a give-away… Keeping my fingers crossed that this will help!!
Hello!! It’s a great feeling to know that we got through another Monday, isn’t it? Working as a background extra and working promotions have slowed down greatly for me. It was great for me to have so much free time to play but now I am becoming quite bored and and starting to realize how drastically I need to strap myself down and focus on getting my Etsy shop off the ground.
Over the weekend I compiled a list for myself of what I plan to accomplish on a weekly basis — besides blogging at least once (which I have been wanting to do anyway), I will be focusing on producing and listing a new ornament every week, finding one new place to leave business cards, and work on getting featured in blogs by other Etsians. Also, I will be delving into the Seller Handbook and reading an article every week. As part of my blog, I will be including a new item every week that I love from another Etsy seller’s shop — I have too many that I love and they most definitely need to be shared!
In addition to those, I have a rapidly growing list of items I need to work on. I began taking new photographs of my ornaments outside in my mom’s courtyard and gardens. Thanks to the sunny days, the photos are coming out great! I will finish photographing and uploading photos to my Etsy account this week. I will be getting a new banner for my shop and I am going to start playing with Craigslist to see if I can start drawing in traffic to my shop. It is time to reserve a spot at local art markets for November and December, so I will be contacting the ones I am familiar with to see what their availability is. Finally, I will be working on my packaging to make it more in line with what I want my brand presentation to be.
I will close now and return to work. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
My FB Shop Now feature is up and running, and I have my Black and Gold collection of ornaments listed for sale! Below I have details on sales.
Please allow 2 days for handling. I will ship all products no later than 2 days after the product is ordered and payment is received, to allow for packaging and for production of any ornament that is custom ordered.
I will be charging no additional fees for taxes or shipping. These costs are included in the price of the ornament. I ship through USPS, FedEx, and UPS. I will be working to set up a tracking feature in the near future.
I accept payments through PayPal directly through the Shop Now feature on Facebook, as well as through check or money order. Please review my FB fan page for further details on this.
Returns can be made within 30 days for a full refund.
Please get in touch with me should you have any questions! Also visit my new Etsy Treasury!
Summer is in full swing and I am keeping to the comfort of the AC… and am still working on getting things back on track. I have activated the 10forsummer coupon code on my Etsy shop. Use it when you are checking out to receive 10% off your entire purchase!
I recently purchased myself an iPad and am loving it!! I have downloaded my Tumblr, Etsy, and WordPress Apps so now I can work on keeping things running online while I am away from my laptop. Cell phones just aren’t meant for easily running online businesses!!
This morning I became familiar with the website Payvment.com, which I am using to set up a ‘Shop Now’ feature on my FB fan page — using Paypal, you can now make purchases directly through Facebook! I will also accept payment through check and money order, which I will post the info for as I am working on this feature this afternoon. At present, I am unable to set up a feature for credit card payments but will do so when I find a way! I will be posting again when I have all my settings taken care of.
On that note, I am also working on getting the credit card feature set up on my Etsy account!
Day one of revamping my shop is going well — I have been able to make a couple of changes to my shop that I am excited about. I now will be shipping internationally, and have listed the cost of shipping outside of the USA to all of my ornaments. I also edited the names of each ornament in order to make each more searchable. I will be editing the descriptions of each to tell everyone a little more about each product and will be finding new places to photograph the ornaments.
I also decided to accept all forms of payment allowed by Etsy, rather than just Paypal. Though Paypal is still my preferred method, I also accept checks and money orders. I will be accepting credit and debit cards when Etsy has this feature set up, which will be in the next couple of months.
The Etsy App for Android phones has been downloaded, and I am currently installing the WordPress App. I will be testing out these while I am working on set tomorrow. I am hoping it turns out to be a short day so that I will be able to easily get some more work done! I am also considering selling my ornaments on eBay, but that is something to think about after I get this shop off the ground. I also have been going through all the Etsy Success emails I have received and have not read through — there is so much valuable info and tips. I am putting together a handbook for myself with the notes I am taking plus the handbook packets that Etsy sends out. They are great! This is going to be great help in keeping me excited and focused.
Hey everyone!! I hope anyone who reads my blog has had a wonderful year in 2011. There have been some changes for me and some things have yet to change. Since New Orleans, Louisiana, has had so much work in the film industry, I started working last year as a background extra. It was fun but it was hard work (yep, working in the film industry is indeed work… and everyone feels it – from the bottom of the food chain to the top where you get waited on hand and foot). I love it, but I’ve gotten to the point where I only do background work when I can’t do promotional work… which I am loving even more! Doing promotions is allowing me so much flexibility in my schedule and it’s great that my job changes with every event I get booked on. The best thing is that I am able to tackle the process of starting my own businesses. I am not getting back into the swing of working with my shop on Etsy, and I will be spending the next few weeks revamping my shop. In the meantime, I will be working on opening my own costume accessory shop in the city and will be working to get my name out to everyone so I can do freelance seamstress work.
I will be blogging for 3 reasons — firstly, I love to write and may use wordpress as a means of getting back into the habit of writing so I can add ‘finishing a novel’ to the list of things I want to accomplish in 2012.
Secondly, to keep myself on track and to now allow myself to be distracted. Over the years since I was introduced to the internet, I have allowed myself to become too involved in websites that serve as fun past-times — I need to cut back on how much time I spend there, and I am hoping that this will keep me on track.
Thirdly, I have found that too many of the people I encounter on a daily basis live the life that the Latin phrase ‘Panem Et Circenses’ refers too – Bread and Circuses, being well fed and entertained. I want to focus my life on working hard and establishing independence for myself, so that I can rely more on myself than others for support and spend more of my time productively. I will be blogging more to remind myself of the determination I feel right now to follow a dream.
